Heven On Earth -Huvafen Fushi in Maldives

If celebrity patrons are an indicator of a hotel’s popularity, the Maldives super-lux Huvafen Fushi is about as hot as it gets. George Clooney popped in for lunch last month, Kate Moss partied in her Ocean Villa, Tom Cruise and Katie Holmes booked in a massage during their honeymoon, Alexander McQueen had left when I arrived and when I left the island, Stefano Gabbana of Dolce & Gabbana and John Galliano were set to arrive (separately).

Trendsetting Huvafen Fushi has been raising the benchmark since its first inception two years ago. Opening its doors to feature the world’s first underwater spa, Huvafen Fushi has since earned its spot on the coveted Condé Nast Traveller Magazines’ UK and US Hot List.

The day at Huvafen Fushi starts off with a buffet breakfast in Celcius, luxe-but-laid-back dining on a white sand floored deck branching out over the lagoon. Next it’s off snorkeling where you’ll see the most amazing colored coral and sea life including sting rays. It takes approximately 3 hours before you realize you have a tan, the sun is extremely bright and even with 30+ sunblock, you tan quite fast and you notice tan lines by the time you’ve finished breakfast.

Famously, the highest point in the Maldives is only four meters above sea level, so perhaps its not surprising that the Huvafen spa is underwater – something totally exclusive to this resort. It’s like entering a glamorous fishbowl where you are the main attraction to the fish. It’s the perfect environment for a massage. I chose the Maldivian monsoon ritual massage and it defies description. All I can say is that I don’t think I will ever be able to top the experience. Incredible is an understatement.

Three restaurants, a lively bar, a seriously cool well-stocked underground wine cellar, an over-water yoga pavilion and the world's first underwater massage treatment rooms complete the picture.COSTBungalows from US$880This year, Huvafen Fushi is proud to announce three new initiatives. An übercool 70ft luxury yacht, an exclusive compilation with one of the world’s most famous DJ and Producer, Ravin from Buddha Bar, Paris as well as an uplift to the world’s first underwater spa.

Death Highway: St. Petersburg - Moscow

Did you know that the main highway in Russia, connecting two biggest cities Moscow city and St. Petersburg has only two lanes, with only a few sections with 3-4 lanes, mainly closer to Moscow and St. Petersburg.

It’s length is more than 300 miles (700 km) and it’s overloaded all the time, no matter you go though it in the daytime or at night.

Now, when the snow finally appeared in Western Russia, the traffic on this number one federal highway causes things like this happen every few miles.

Now watch this! A truck moving fast right on your lane, like he is driving in England where the traffic goes the other way on the road and steering wheels are to the right. Does he think he is in England already?

It’s no surprise to see more and more of the trucks lying from the sides of the road.

Google repairs `Orkut' worm

The search giant Google has reportedly repaired a prolific spam worm launched on its social networking site Orkut.

Earlier this week, a Trend Micro engineer Robert McArdle published a blog entry warning that a worm was replicating itself across Orkut using a Flash object that invokes malicious JavaScipt code.

"The attack works due to Orkut allowing users to embed Flash content in their scrap posts (although it does filter for normal XSS techniques)," said McArdle in the blog post. "The author appears to have created a SWFObject that calls the malicious JavaScript and was able to use this to bypass Orkut's filters."

The attack began as an e-mail message alerting Orkut users that they have a new Scrapbook (guestbook) entry.

On receiving the scraps, the members' browsers then downloaded and executed the embedded virus. After adding its victims to a community called "Infectados Pelo Virus Orkut" or "Those Infected by the Orkut Virus," the worm then started to send messages to members of the affected user's friends list.

In an email statement Google representative said that Google takes the security of its users very seriously. "We worked quickly to implement a fix for the issue recently reported in Orkut. We also took steps to help prevent similar problems in the future. Service to Orkut was not disrupted during this time."

Orkut, Google's first pass at social networking, was launched in January 2004 and named after its creator and Google employee, Orkut Buyukkokten. The site is reported to have in excess of 67 million registered users overall. By comparison, MySpace boasts 110 million users.

TigerWoods house in Florida’s Jupiter Island

Name: Eldrick "Tiger" Woods
Born: December 30 , 1975

Professional golfer extraordinaire, Tiger Woods celebrated his 30th birthday earlier this year by forking out $40 million on a luxury estate on Florida’s Jupiter Island.

The 10-time major champion has set a record sale price for a property in an area Forbes magazine labeled as the “Most Expensive ZIP Code.”

But of course Tiger Woods can afford it. He was one of the highest earning US sportsman in 2004 with $80 million from endorsements and appearance fees alone.

Mukesh Ambani's new residence being constructed in Mumbai's Altamount Road is the stuff myths are made of. Named after the mythical island Antilia, the house-in-the-making will be completed by next year. It is being built on a 4,532 sq metre plot that was acquired by Ambani in 2002.
27 FLOORS: According to the plan, the house will rise to a height of 173.12 meters, equivalent to that of a regular 60-storeyed residential building . However, Antilia will have only 27 storeys in all.

SIX FLOORS FOR PARKING : The first six floors will be reserved for parking alone, and that too for cars belonging only to Mukesh's family. Space for a total of 168 imported cars has been earmarked here.

ENTERTAINMENT FLOOR: The eighth floor will have an entertainment centre comprising a mini-theatre .

BALCONIES WITH GARDENS : The rooftop of the mini-theatre will serve as a garden, and immediately above that, three more balconies with terrace gardens.

HEALTH FLOORS: While the ninth floor will have a 'refuge' floor - meant to be used for rescue in emergencies - two floors above that will be set aside for health. It will have facilities for athletics and a swimming pool, while the other will have a health club.

FOR GUESTS: There will be a two-storeyed glass-fronted apartment for the Ambani family's guests above the health floors.

FAMILY: The four floors at the top, that will provide a view of the Arabian Sea and a superb view of the city's skyline, will be for Mukesh, his wife Neeta, their three kids and Mukesh's mother Kokilaben .

AIR SPACE FLOOR: Two floors above the family's residence will be set aside as maintenance areas, and on top of that will be an 'air space floor,' which will act as a control room for helicopters landing on the helipad above. There will be three helipads there.

STAFF: Nearly 600 staffers are expected to work in the building.

COST: House with a Price Tag of Rs.4000 crore for 6 people and 600 staff
